Medical marijuana is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of conditions. New patients must meet with a doctor for a review of their medical condition(s) and records to determine if they qualify for the Montana Medical Marijuana program. Once approved by the doctor, the patient must then register and pay the state application fee online via TAP Portal.
After paying the application fee a temporary card will be issued to the patient through the Montana Department of Revenue Cannabis Control Division dashboard. The temporary card can be printed out and is good for up to 60 days.
Minors can be prescribed medical marijuana, but the process is a little different. Minors have to see two physicians. If they qualify, they are allowed to have two people as their authorized purchasers (their parents) and can only get edibles or tinctures. Medical marijuana cards must be renewed annually. Patients must see the doctor and register with the state through the Cannabis Control Division – website approximately two weeks prior to their card expiration date.
The fee for new patients to see the doctor is $160 and the state processing fee is $22.00. If you aren’t approved at your doctor visit, you dont pay the fee. Ask about our discounts for Veterans and returning patients! *Minor patients and limit increases are priced separately.
Patients can request a replacement card by following the instructions for their replacement card here: Cardholder Information – Montana Department of Revenue. People under the supervision of the Department of Corrections are currently not eligible to participate in the Montana Medical Marijuana Program. When supervision ends, they can then apply for their card.
